The 1st ever ‘Plant a Seed’ volunteer event took place on Saturday 6/16 on Amsterdam Avenue in Harlem. At the event, 20 volunteers worked along side 20 ACE participants to clean tree pits, till soil and plant flowers. The event took place in partnership with Harlem One Stop, West Harlem Community Preservation Organization and New York City Council Member Mark Levine.
The goal of ‘Plant a Seed’ was to strengthen community by having volunteers work along side New Yorkers Experiencing Homelessness to give back to a local New York neighborhood. The goal was achieved as 59 tree pits along 7 blocks received a make over.
